San Salvador, the capital, is surprisingly cool and easy to explore. It’s got that
perfect mix of city buzz and cozy spots. One of my favorite finds was the big
public library — a peaceful place to chill, catch up on reading, or just escape the
city noise for a bit. Around the city, the streets are colorful, with markets selling
fresh fruits, handmade crafts, and street snacks that smell too good to pass up.
The vibe here is welcoming and lively — a great place to soak up Salvadoran
culture.
Just a short drive from the city is El Boquerón National Park. Imagine standing
on the rim of a massive volcanic crater — it’s like nature’s own giant bowl! The
fresh mountain air, the lush greenery, and that deep crater right in front of you
make for an unforgettable experience. It’s an easy hike and totally worth it if you
want to get away from the city and feel like you’re on top of the world.
After your hike, swing by the nearby markets where local farmers sell fresh fruits
that taste like sunshine. Mangos, pineapples, and other tropical goodies are
everywhere — perfect for a quick snack or to pack for your next adventure.
When it’s time to relax, head to El Tunco, the surf town with a vibe you’ll want to
bottle up and take home. The beach has this unique black volcanic sand that
feels soft under your feet, and the waves here are fantastic — whether you’re a
pro surfer or just want to try your hand at catching your first wave. The town
itself is full of cute shops selling handmade jewelry, beachwear, and quirky
souvenirs.
And then there are the sunsets… oh, the sunsets! The sky lights up with
oranges, pinks, and purples, reflecting off the ocean in a way that makes you
stop and say, “Wow.” It’s the perfect end to any day in El Salvador.
Kosher, no worries — the local Chabad community is amazing and ready to help.
They offer great kosher food options and make it easy to enjoy authentic
Salvadoran hospitality without any stress.
