We landed in Antigua and checked into the Camino Real Antigua—an absolutely gorgeous 5-star hotel just a 10-minute walk from Chabad. Super accommodating for Shabbos, with beautiful views and top-tier service. (Tip: Their airport transfer was seamless!)
After settling in, we had just enough time to explore the Choco Museo for a fun and interactive bean-to-bar chocolate workshop—a sweet way to start the trip.
We popped into the local market (not the artisan one yet), then relaxed a bit at the hotel before getting ready for Shabbat. We had already checked in with Chabad, confirmed our Shabbat meals, and even booked a volcano hike through them.
Friday night was spent at Chabad—a warm, lively meal filled with good food and great people.
✨ Day 2: Shabbat in Antigua (Saturday)
We took advantage of the downtime and slept in. Shabbat lunch at Chabad began around 1:30 PM (note: meals start very late, both Friday night and Shabbat day!).
The afternoon was slow and relaxing—hot tub time back at the hotel, followed by drinks at the hotel bar. It was the perfect balance of spirituality and vacation vibes.
🏍 Day 3: Exploring the Villages & Hobbitenango (Sunday)
Sunday kicked off with a custom ATV village tour booked through Simoon Tours. We chose a 3-hour route that took us through surrounding villages—one of the highlights of the trip.
Afterward, we checked out of the hotel and into a fabulous Airbnb close to Chabad. It had 4 bedrooms, a private rooftop jacuzzi, and epic mountain views. (Highly recommend—here’s the listing.)
In the afternoon, we explored the whimsical mountaintop eco-park Hobbitenango, and ended the day with supper at Chabad.
Day 4: Volcano Adventure & Town Wandering (Monday)
An early start at 5 AM for the Pacaya Volcano Hike—totally worth it for the lava views and marshmallow roasting.
After grabbing some coffee, we spent the rest of the day relaxing at the Airbnb and ordered dinner in. That evening, we wandered around town, soaking in Antigua’s colonial charm by night.
🧖 Day 5: Spa Day & Farewell (Tuesday)
We made the most of our last day:
• Morning hot tub session
• Checked out, left our luggage with Chabad
• Treated ourselves to massages
• Coffee at Starbucks Antigua (yes, it’s beautiful!)
• Drinks at Cervecería 14
• Shopping at the artisan market
• One last dinner at Chabad
Afterward, it was off to the airport for our red-eye flight, landing back home early Wednesday morning at 5:30 AM.
